This collection of poetry is a quick and easy read, perfect for a meaningful read between longer books. The author takes us on an emotional journey through pain, longing, hopes, and expectations, all tinged with hate and toxicity—a reality for many people, unfortunately.
I find this style of poetry incredibly engaging. The work and emotions poured into this collection are palpable. While some poems did fall a bit flat, there were many that truly resonated with me. They were relatable and show more tear-jerking, capturing the essence of human experience in a way that few collections manage to do. Forceful love and not listening to one request of stop and hints of existential crisis and Safe space is discussed in between
Overall, this collection is a heartfelt exploration of the complexities of life, making it a worthwhile read for anyone who appreciates raw and crude opinionated poetry. show less

This collection of poetry really resonated with me. I had similar experiences in my life. These confessional type of poems remind me of Plath and Sexton’s work. These works are not for the faint hearted, and you will love the introspectiveness of each poem.

Think of Note to Self as a collection of tiny pep talks geared mostly towards women. Yes, you can read the entire book in one sitting, if you want. There are only fifty affirmations. I would caution against inhaling the whole book at once because every chapter becomes more repetitive as time goes on. The five clearest messages are 1) you are not alone, 2) every ending is a new beginning, 3) you are capable, worthy, and loveable, 4) it is okay to say no, especially if saying yes means show more sacrificing selfcare, and 5) breaking down only means building up or said another way, every ending is a new beginning. E.V. Nova and Freya Sharp take turns doling out the sage advice.
In short, this is a cool little book to pick up anytime you need a little pick me up.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Some of the poems in this book resonated deeply with me and some did not but I think that's often the nature of poetry, especially that which revolves around specific occasions in the author's life. I have not had all the experiences that Sharp has so there are parts that don't speak to me. However, the phrases still flow with ease and there is enough that does resonate that I still enjoyed the journey regardless of the moments that slipped by without much notice. There are enough points at show more which I felt understood by the author that I could form an emotional connection with the work and it was overall a good read. *Minor spoilers* I would recommend caution for those who have experienced abusive romantic relationships though. There is nothing graphic but that certainly doesn't preclude the possibility that it may be too much. show less
