Shmelf is another lovable elf who is concerned about Jewish children not receiving Christmas presents. Santa sends him to see what Hanukkah is all about and is relieved and happy for the Jewish children. Santa then makes him in charge of watching over the Jewish children. An interesting and fun story explaining what Hanukkah is and its traditions but I’m not sure if the end result of an elf watching out for the Jewish children will be appreciated. The illustrations are lovely.
This book was recommended to me by a Jewish friend with three children. Her young children have wondered about Santa and if they haven't been "good enough" to get gifts. She told me this was the perfect book to help her little kids understand a little bit better about Santa. The illustrations are beautiful.
