A friend recommended this book to me, I think mostly for the section in Part III that discusses if we can pray with assurance for the conversion of our loved ones. At times, I found the author's style easy to understand and other times, I struggled to discern what he wanted to convey.
Book Description
This is one of the popular books in the Quiet Talk Series. It explores the awesome potential for spiritual power lying dormant in the life of every believer. In his unique descriptive style, Gordon avoids trite phrases as he prepares your soul to be connected to the divine source.
My notes: He made some excellent points here and there, but overall I cannot recall much of it. It was like a speech or series of sermons that had been transcribed and the style of it was not easy show more for me to absorb. show less

S.D. Gordon in his Quiet Talks on Prayer makes very clear to us that we are engaged in a gigantic spiritual battle here on earth which can only be won through prayer. "Prayer is man giving God a footing on the contested territory of this earth. The man in full touch of purpose with God praying, insistently praying--that man is God's footing on the enemy's soil. The man wholly given over to God gives Him a new sub-headquarters on the battlefield from which to work out. And the Holy Spirit show more within that man, on the new spot, will insist on the enemy's retreat in Jesus the Victor's name. That is prayer." Thus, S.D. Gordon, writing in 1904, gives us a timeless review of what he has learned during his lifetime of talking and listening to God. show less
In this short book Gordon shares a plan for world evangelism. It is very simple but effective plan that involves every Christian in some way. Prayer warriors are needed. So are financial supporters. And then there are the workers--people must talk about the Good News not only on foreign soil but also in the neighborhood, the next block, and the town square.
