I am a single woman nearing the end of what the world says should be my window. I am also a woman of faith - not the Jewish faith, but the Judeo-Christian faith, and I believe I have plenty to learn from my Jewish brothers and sisters, so I read broadly. I love a good bit of encouragement wherever I can find it. (Who doesn't?) So I was excited to get a chance at this book. But...I didn't love it. It doesn't really have anything to offer. The advice and practical reflections in it are the show more things that I and my single friends already believe and talk about, so it's not some groundbreaking insight. It's not advice that we're not already living. It's nothing new to help narrow in the search. As I was reading this book, I found myself more being humbled because I was thinking, "Are there really women out there who AREN'T already doing this?" And it gave me pause to think about the very real, very broken ways that some women are really living. This book might be for them. But it wasn't for me. show less

A very easy read. The author's style is brisk, crisp and no-nonsense. Whether or not you're Jewish, religious or otherwise, the author provides wise advice. The reader may not agree with 100% of the approach suggested but it's the same thing with how a daughter may react to a parent's dating advice. Given the author's experience in dating in some of the toughest dating cities in the world, New York and Paris, I think she has a lot of useful case studies to share.
Would definitely recommend to show more single friends. show less

I recently received the book Marry a Mensch: Timeless Jewish Wisdom for Today's Single Woman. I really enjoyed this book. I found it to have a lot of valuable words of wisdom for single ladies. It is direct, helpful, and gives great, and sometimes, humorous advice but gives advice that every woman should know. I highly recommend this book to women getting back out in the dating game. Thank you Devorah Kigel for your timely advice!

I never read this type of book before but I am gonna be honest. I really liked it alot, I was so happy when I received this book that I started to read immediately. I finished very quick and it was very enjoyable. I am looking forward to read more from this author
