I am simply glad this book exists

If youve dabbled in meditation or ever done therapy, its likely that the information this book provides wont be groundbreaking. As someone who's acquainted with both, i read it half because i genuinely like dan and his approach, half due to curiosity, and i must say: as a society, we needed this. Self help non fiction books arent a new thing, and im sure there are dozens of books out there that give out very similar information. But by writing it like this, show more so accessibly, and offering to a relatively young following, hes giving them tools that i believe previous generations didnt have at their disposal. And that is excelent. We really, really need that, and i think this book should be read by... all teenagers, period. Before shit starts to go down, if it hasnt already

Its not necessarily meant to be read in a linear way, which is super cool -you can pick it up and go back and forth and skip parts that dont serve you. It also doesnt treat itself as an absolute solution, and it will be the first to say "if your issue goes past these parameters, do not hesitate to see a professional", but it also offers specific, practical tools that do work (after all, everything was proofed by a therapist!). I think it could have gone a bit deeper on some topics, hence the star deduction, but regardless it says enough that if you come across something you think really resonates, you now know what to go research, since google is free. If anything, the book is an amazing starting point.

I read it in dan's voice the whole time, i love how present his (literary) voice is because its very unique, and it made the reading experience that much richer. Its funny and hopeful, and positive without going into the toxic realm. Not a read you do for fun, but one you should do regardless!
