COPO is a legendary word in the world of Muscle Cars and this is a book that upholds that feeling and sense of awe and amazement. Beautifully bound with great photography throughout.
The author begins by explaining what COPO is and what it is all about then he delves into the history of the cars that were graced with the COPO titles. The vehicles he focuses on in this particular book are the Yenko Corvair Stinger, the 1967 Camaro 427 COnversions, the 1968 Yenko Super Camaro, the Gibb Chevy show more II Nova Super Sport, the ZL1 Camaro, The 1969 Camaro, the 1969 COPO Chevelle, the 1970 Yenko Deuce Nova, the 1970 and a half COPO Camaro, and the Vega Yenko Stinger. With each car he goes into its history and the process it took to bring such raw power to the roads. Plus the various laws that governed the automaker’s decisions regarding the way the engines were built such as the Clean Air Act of 1970.
One of the best things he added were two very detailed appendices for all of the 1969 ZL1 Camaros and 1968 Gibb Novas. For the Camaros he dives into the which car was produced by which factory, the various options it left the factory with, who it was ordered by, and who sold it. For the Novas he used the VIN to identify the factory color code, the official color description and the type of transmission it had.
Whether you are a collector, an avid enthusiast, or simply curious this book is wonderful and I do recommend it for anyone who enjoys the Muscle Car world. show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.First and foremost, I'm not a car person. I can definitely appreciate the nicer cars for looks and such, but when it comes to fine details and specs? Way over my head. That said, this is a great coffee table book for anyone with even a passing interest in Camaros or sports cars in general.
Matt Avery has put great photos and information together in a very easy-to-digest way. For most models presented, there's a short write up on the design, changes to the car, and brief history. Nothing show more becomes so in-depth to where you spend six pages reading about why an engine was changed or a tail light moved from oblong to round. It makes the book incredibly easy to pick up, open at random, and read any given page.
In a move I really appreciate, there are QR codes scattered throughout the book that allow you to access more detailed information on specific models. I think that greatly helped to keep the book from becoming a tome of nothing but numbers and charts. It really helps move it along for the aforementioned quick read.
I'll probably give this one to my dad, who loves classic cars, but it would be a good gift for anyone you know in the same interest group. I'm curious to see what other books this publisher has put out in this style! show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Got this book through the "Early Reviewers List" on Library Thing. Really enjoyed it and was surprised there were so many versions of Camaros. I knew of some as I have been driving Camaros since 1968 when I bought my first one. Book shows al the versions and accesories available if the right boxes were checked when ordering Lots of info!!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Matt Avery did an excellent job of presenting detailed information and photographs for numerous Camaro special editions and information on those who created them. In addition to the printed content the use of QR codes (or web addresses) throughout the book provides access to more content. The detail to researching the special editions is obvious.
This is a great reference book for novice to expert Camaro fans and is sure to increase your knowledge and understanding of the special editions. show more Not a big Camaro fan, check this book out and you may feel differently. One can envision using this book as the starting point to select the specific Camaro edition(s) you will include in your automobile collection.
