I really didn't like this series...
So much so that, for this book I pretty much read only every other page. I skimmed so much of it that basically I only read half the book. And, book 2 was so bad I ended up giving up on it about 34% into it - having skim read even that.
I'll start by pointing out the good aspects...
and there were a couple (literally). The writing style was good (well, mostly). It read like a good book, only it wasn't! And it had a fairly complex plot (for this type of book). show more
Now, on to why I wanted to give it NO stars...
To start, we have the HIGHLY typical cope-out of the author telling us how a character is , then having them behave in a completely contradictory manor. Then telling us this was rare. Well, not from the viewers' (readers') perspective!
I'll give you an example...
this book tells us how UNcommon it is for the heroine to drink. Saying things like, "she never drinks more than a glass or two, and even that infrequently." And yet in the first WEEK or two she's shit faced drunk THREE TIMES!!! So drunk that, on the first occasion she can't recollect how she ended up in bed with the 'enemy'. And on two occasions she can't even remember how she got her drunk ass home.
Just because you TELL us something...
doesn't make us believe it! Just because the author states the character doesn't often drink, doesn't make me think 'oh, this must be unusual for her' when she's wasted off her ass night after partying night. I need to SEE for myself that she's not usually like this. I need prior examples, to have some experiences depicted where she was a responsible adult before throwing me into her alcoholic daze so that I can come to the conclusion myself that she's not a lush or a moron, because quite frankly, I didn't care how many times the author mentioned how rare this party-girl behavior was, from my viewpoint she was CONSTANTLY parting and getting plastered.
Then we have how the book reads like...
you reentered a room you'd just stepped out of only to find the conversation continued while you were gone. Throughout this book I felt like I'd missed parts of the story or the plot! One minute we're at this point, then the next sentence we're somewhere else entirely! I HATED that.
And don't even get me started about...
how often she went on about how fucking hot this guy was. EVERY SINGLE time she looked at him, off she'd go about how gorgeous he was. I get the fucking point! The more I read about it, the less sexy he became to me! By the end of the book I didn't give a shit he was sexy, MOVE ON! I thought I'd vomit if I had to read one more of her looped thoughts, or hear her talk about, how hot the guy was.
And then we have the insta-love...
and how much she cared about this guy (after a week). Why? Who knows, we're only told that she does! She doesn't SHOW, she TELLS (ad nauseam)! There was no interaction depicted! Only some fucking and some drinking and a few moments of conversation! Yet she's in love?
But, the very worst for me was the 'BFF'...
In all the books I've read like this (and I'm embarrassed to say it's a few) this is one of the most disgusting best friends I've read about. A truly reprehensible character. A sulking lush with serious mental issues. And an unforgivably bad influence!! Best friend my ass!!!! And the book goes on and on about how much the girl loves and cares about the heroine, and always has her back... WHAT??? In all of book one, and into book two, she was absolutely NOTHING but trouble and repulsive.
I was going to give the books 2 stars...
after I finished it, simply because it was written well enough that I can see the author has potential, but than I decided I really hated almost every single thing about this book, and 2 stars was just too many! show less

Love is fragile. Love can easily be broken. Love is not always perfect. And sometimes love makes mistakes. When everything’s broken, everything seems lost. The only way to get your love back and repair it…is to conquer it.
This is the second book in the Surrender Your Love series and we pick up right where we left off. Brooke has discovered everything she thought she knew was a lie. Devastated, she and Sylvie flee to the comforts of Italy, heartbroken and lost. Brooke is so determined to show more put Jett in her rearview mirror, but her heart knows it can’t escape destiny. We know it, Jett knows it, hell, even Sylvie knows it though she fights Brooke tooth and nail to convince her otherwise. In all honesty though, the only thing keeping them apart is stubbornness. These two……..WHEW….. They will steam up a room in a heartbeat, even more so when they are pissed at each other! One thing is certain in that they have a passionate love.
Love happens in the blink of an eye. One moment your heart is yours, and the next it belongs to someone you never intended to give it to. There is no transition. No earning on his part. Just foolish trust and hope for a future of happiness and emotional fulfillment. As much as we all hope for a happily ever after, life doesn’t work that way.
There comes a point in relationships when you just have to look beyond reason. Look beyond faults, flaws, short comings, fear, insecurities. When it comes to love, none of these matter. What truly matters is what is in your heart, and if you take the time to truly listen to it, it won’t steer you wrong. Too often we are stuck in our heads, turning into our own worst enemies. Loves that last a lifetime don’t let miniscule things deter them. You can only fight fate for so long until she takes action.
I had never been so happy in my life, and in that instant I realized that even if I wanted to and the opportunity presented itself-I could never hurt him. Love is when you’d rather be hurt that hurt the one you love.
While many questions were answered in this installment, only about a thousand more were raised. I cannot wait to see how it all ends. If it is anything like the previous two, I know we will be blown away with passion, intrigue, heartache, and most importantly, love. This was a solid 4.5 star read for me!
“I told you once and I’ll tell you again,” Jett said softly. “I don’t want someone who’s perfect because I’m, not perfect. I want someone who’s real; someone who complements me rather than completes me.” show less

This was such a fantastic book. I loved the way Kellan managed to change her outlook on his nature. The second song I read, I think I would have been mortified, though. Ugh, unfortunately, I can’t really say anything about the contents of the book because it would give everything away. You start being able to put the pieces together pretty quickly. Kellan is my favorite lovable asshole that has no filter, though. I would love to see how they are later, or even possibly a story where we see show more what happens with Mandy and Josh. The story moves quite well and stays steady! show less

Cash Boyd is an arrogant ass. He’s selfish, rich, a womanizer, happens to be damn good at riding bulls, and refuses to lay by the rules. He won’t ask for help under any circumstances – especially not after his latest bull riding injury that requires therapy following several extensive surgeries. He’s sent every therapist packing from his home – even locked his family out of his house quite literally for show more meddling – so this heart-stopping beauty of a therapist won’t be any different. His family sent her, he doesn’t need her, so she has to go. He will get back to walking on his own – in his own time, on his own terms, with no help from anyone. Definitely not from Erin, who has had his right hand working over-time since she arrived in his house.
Erin Stone had a stellar reputation as a physical therapist. She loves her work and lives to be able to help others through her services. She knew Cash would be a hand full when she took the job and she’s worked with some tough nuts to crack, but this guy tests all of her limits and boundaries. Their magnetic attraction isn’t helping the situation. All she can focus on is his beautiful body – and that is when he isn’t sending her temper into meltdown mode with his refusal to get with the program. Never mind that she has been tempted since she first laid eyes on him, now she’s actually considering more. It’s a way to get him to co-operate with therapy: at least that is what tells herself. Never mind that the arrogant jackass tempts her beyond reason and that his desire for her could be part of the reason behind some of the jackassery. But only some.
Full disclosure – I couldn’t use my very favorite lines or dialogue highlights in the review, because it would have spoiled parts of the story. It sucks, but neither do I enjoy running stories for other readers. I very much enjoyed my time spent with Cash and Erin. The chemistry between the two was palpable. I enjoyed seeing each try to deny the attraction, explain it away, then try to get on with their days without confronting it. Good plan … NOT! And the sex … Good Grief! Hot and Steamy to be certain! I think part of the charm was when they both would come to realize that they cared on a larger level, but would rationalize it, without admitting that it could be more. That happened several times and each time they cared just a bit more, you know, even though they didn’t. 😊 The Boyd family and extended family is also fun to get to know and added an extra layer of depth to the story without taking anything away from the main characters. Erin stuck it out a bit longer than many would have, but with her passion to help others and her growing love for Cash, it is perfectly understandable why she would put up with more. After all, haven’t all at some point in our lives? Cash was a little more difficult to love. He comes off as a playboy initially, but grows on you after you see more of who the person is and not so much the brand that he puts out there.
Curious though that this book isn’t part of a series and is described as a stand-alone. It is, of course, but there are a couple of other books about the other Boyd brothers. Probably my only issue with the book is that the characters were so flipping indecisive. They’d decide on a way to handle the other and when the next scene popped up, they wouldn’t at that way at all. I guess twitterpation muddled their brains a bit. This made it difficult to understand a couple of times. However, I am fully aware that I read an ARC and it is entirely possible a few things may have changed. The views were interesting as it flipped back and forth between Cash and Erin and I think that may have been where I got hung up a couple of times. But I liked that we could see things from both of their views instead of the regular inferences. I did have a vision of a sexual situation in which Erin took the lead to accommodate for Cash’s injuries, but that didn’t happen.
All in all, this was a very satisfying read, which has made me curious about the stories of the other Boyd brothers – A world I hope to explore. I recommend this book and am happy to say that you do not have to read it in any particular order. But for those of you who prefer to, start with Kellan (Beautiful Distraction), then Cash, and soon you will be able to read about Ryder (No One Like You, Feb 2018). Cash may also be mentioned in Counting On You, another stand alone, but the book does not involve a Boyd brother. For those of you who enjoy a satisfying HEA with hot sex and quite a lot of dirty talk, you’ve got a winner here.
