This is an excellent resource, but definitely not geared for the casual reader/aspiring writer. There’s a lot of information within it, and it’s definitely a book you want to read while taking notes or annotating as you go. The writing is clear and concise, and each chapter is broken down into smaller sections, which makes it easy to read, pause, digest, and pick it back up as you go. If you’re a more seasoned writer and looking to dive into the world of screenplays, then this would be show more a good addition to your library and reading list. I’m not sure if this could be a definitive guide to writing a screenplay, but it’s certainly integral to learning how to write one. show less

Anatomy of a Screenplay Third Edition by Dan Decker is chock full of great advice for writing a screenplay. This book is an expanded iteration of previous editions and is full of detail. The book, rich with information, may not suit beginners. It's a good idea to read other books on the subject in conjunction with this book and gain some experience in writing stories and screenplays. The advice it offers is concise, to the point, and no-nonsense requiring a smart reader with some background show more knowledge to fully grasp its value. Once decoded, it reveals a lot of insights waiting to be utilized. show less
