This is quite an entertaining book. Unfortunately it is the first volume of a series, so the story does not end with this book and you stay wanting to know the end. The beginning could not be better. The entities the author created (the cruxim (Amedeo) and the sphinx (Sabine)) are immortal creatures that have a common enemy, the vampires. The plot is simple: Amedeo helps a young lady (Joslyn) to survive from an abusive father and fall in love with her, but she is turned into a vampire by one show more of his enemies. And he happens to meet Sabine, an sphinx that also kills vampires. They are persecuted and captured by Dr. Gandler, their enemy, that wants to become a vampire, and they are exposed in a circus of curiosities. After some animosities, they find some allies and manage to escape. But Sabine is capture again and Amedeo now has to rescue both Sabine and Joslyn. Very fast paced story, characters well constructed, this is a story that you read on the edge of your chair. Very hard to put the book down before it finishes and I really hope it does not take long for the author to come with the sequel. I am addicted to her style of easy reading and story flowing like there is no tomorrow!
I recommend this book to the permanent library of any reader that loves a well written fantasy book. I bought this book from Amazon.com and I was not requested to provide a positive review. Opinion expressed here is my own. show less

"Roma, From Prison to Paradise" is the biography of Roma Blair, a woman affectionately known as Australia's `mother of yoga'. It documents her life as a fashion model, Japanese prisoner-of-war during WW2 and eventually a yoga teacher and TV star.
Roma Blair brought yoga into the homes and lives of thousands of Australians (especially housewives) through her popular and long-runing yoga TV program. She visited India and Indian ashrams and became a disciple of Swami Satyananda who gave her the show more name, Swami Nirmalananda. show less

This book had two very unique stories in it. The first one was simply amazing… The character started with nothing.. Hanging out in a dope short stop close to college and ended up in elite life with all she could ever want desire or ask for. She felt caged… adored, loved provided for within her marriage and child … and yet the invisible bars were there. Her free spirit was a memory that she brought forth one afternoon. A long time visitor came… with a tragic story and together they show more went down memory lane and then… the sudden happening… so terrifying… unexpected and neither had the ability to undo it…or deal with it and I found myself turning page after page to find out… to get to the end… hoping it would all end up…
The second story was well written and the characters pulled at your mind and heart. The main character found life close to the end result and love in a younger woman who took him home to love and take care of.. until Simon… and the weaker Basil got… losing his ability to manage and control certain body functions…you find yourself inside Basil head and thoughts, you view his actions and want to urge him on to safety… the neglect, humiliation and abuse, caring and love keeps you wanting to control and change what is not real….it’s a book…only a book and yet you feel like you had actually walked beside Basil.
