Angela Fisher and Carol Beckwith have produced quite a few photographic books on various tribes of Africa, always concentrating on the really good-looking ones and especially on the men. Coincidence? (How did they get this job, I wanna know?)
I've just reread this book and its as fresh as the first time. The photography is stunning, the information, though limited, on the different tribes and their ideas of beauty adds meaning to the photographs. Just one of the best books ever.

Outstanding and beautiful book offering a rare glimpse into the lives of the Dinka. Fisher and Beckwith have spent more than 30 years exploring and celebrating the customs and rituals of the peoples of Africa and this book is one of their best. They look back to their earlier visits to Southern Sudan and compare it to the way it is today, as a newly independent country. It illustrates how the world of the Dinka has changed over decades of civil war.
