- Anthony was the artist son of Alderman Frank Rye, Chairman of the L.C.C., the Metropolitan Water Board and half a dozen other bodies. Anthony published a number of books of verse before his death in 196- and these have in recent years become the subject of a cult in Japan with the consequence of innumerable Japanese pilgrims to Selborne not to the home of Gilbert White but to that of Anthony Rye.
