I loved the art in this picture book; in fact, on the second spread when the little girl gets out of bed, the sparkle in her eyes made me pause and smile. There's a lot of color and joy, and the details of so many types of people celebrating Pride make for some fun examination. Unfortunately, I found the text a bit stilted and awkward, and at times it seemed to swing from too little to too much in terms of wordiness. The initial rhythm established, ending each set of thoughts with the show more recurring phrase "It's Pride, Baby," is abruptly interrupted shortly into the book; at that point, with the page turn absolutely indicating that the refrain was coming next, it felt so strange to have that not be what the little girl is meant to '"But remember..."

I wish I could have liked this more, but what I did enjoy was enough for me to fall on the side of "Yay" rather than "Nay." show less
