This is a history book.
It's about travelers from different backgrounds and fields using a common tool, a camera, to bring back what they saw, discovered, and wanted us to see. To tell their stories as they struggled to capture some of these wonderful images.
I am usually more interested in other subjects than underwater photography, but what Bill Curtsinger and David Doubilet captured made it my favorite part of the book. Magic.

A beautiful large-format book that includes some of the National Geographic's finest images. Oragnised into chapters which each relate to a separate region, within the chapters the images are organised into sub-sections.
It is interesting to note that the majority of the pictures seem to come from the period 1989-2003, followed by photos pre-1939. There seem to be very few photographs from the period 1960 - 1988, which is odd considering how great some of the photography of the 1970s was.

Wonderal photographs from long ago to present time. Interesting how some things never change. Just by looking through the book, you learn about photography.
This book contains men's and women's hats in a book of photographs. Should be considered an art book, though the pictures are cited for location and year when known. All photographs of people wearing hats around the world. Note this is a small hardbound book with dustcover. Should not be considered a book for source material of the making or wearing of hats, except for cultural or historical puposes.
