In this excellent collection of essays, editorials, and speeches delivered during his time as Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Dion provides an articulate, sophisticated version of Canadian federalism. Of particular note is his correspondence with the leaders of the Parti Quebecois in the final part of the book, which lead to the famous show more Supreme Court Case In re: Secession and the subsequent Clarity Act.

Mr. Dion's vision is a pragmatic one of a vibrant, multicultural Canada. Eschewing cliche, he adds gravitas to the debate over Quebec sovereignty and provides a thoughtful perspective in a discourse too often dominated by tired sterotypes and one-dimensional thought.
