Good book. The octopus is a bit of a jerk, but by owning up to his mistakes, learns that he has much more to offer to himself and to others.
A story about finding what you're good at and learning self-esteem. Crab believes he is clumsy with his claws and that they get in the way of everything he does including playing hide and seek, toss the bubble and tag. HIs friends though allow him to be the seeker in hide and seek and clumsy Crab learns that his claws are more than just clumsy and that he is able to save the day when Octopus gets stuck in the seaweed. A cute story with fun illustrations that would be good for young readers show more to talk about the differences in everyone that still makes them unique and special and about how friends should accept each other for who they are. show less
In my opinion this is a good book. I liked how the author’s language was patterned when describing Tiddler’s adventure through the sea. For example, Galloway wrote, “He wriggled and squiggled, he darted and giggled…He dived and he flipped, he leapt and he dipped.” I also liked the characterization in this story because Tiddler and his mother were believable characters. The mother was “fed up” with Tiddler so she told him to “go out into the sea and swim till you’re tired, show more but watch out for the Big Fish” Tiddler’s mom wanted to make sure he was safe while he was out which is believable because most mothers would do the same. Tiddler’s character was believable because he is young and didn’t listen to his mother. He swam right into the Big Fish’s mouth. This is realistic because many children are not as careful as they should be and don’t always listen to their parents. Overall, the big idea of this story is that you should listen to your parents. This is evident when Tiddler swims into the Big Fishes mouth and gets scared. His mother told him to be careful and to watch out for the fish, but he did not listen. show less
Fidgety Fish is a story about a hyper little fish named Tiddler that just keeps getting on his mother's nerves. She sends him out in the ocean so he can swim around hoping he would lose all of his energy. Before he leaves she warns him about the large fish. Tiddler swims all around the ocean looking at all of the different animals that live there. He soon finds himself in the belly of the giant fish. Luckily the fish burps him out, and Tiddler gets to home safely.
Growing up I was like show more Tiddler in many ways. I was a very energetic child. I also had a very adventurous and curious personality.
Any child will love hearing this story because so many can relate to Tiddler. He is the everyday kid. show less
