A Violet Moon" is a lyrical and evocative dark fantasy that thrives on its rich world-building and emotional depth. Behr weaves a tale centered on complex characters navigating a world where magic feels both beautiful and burdensome. The prose is notably descriptive, focusing heavily on internal growth and the consequences of hidden secrets, making it a great pick for readers who enjoy character-driven stories with a melancholic, gothic atmosphere.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This was a strong start to the A Dance of Spirit and Bones series, it had that element that I was looking for from the description. I was invested in what was happening with the characters and it had a thought provoking element to this. I enjoyed this as a introduction to the world and characters and thought the world building was so well written and kept the reader engaged. Madeline R. Behr wrote this perfectly and left me wanting to read more in the story and from Madeline R. Behr.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I was given the opportunity to read and review this ARC and I am glad I was able to do so. The world building, magical systems, and story are intriguing. Each person goes through trials and trauma, but they find that they are all fighting the same beast. This is a story of those in power and those that will fight it. This is a first in series! So if you don’t like waiting for the next book, put this on your TBR for now. The Violet Moon is only the beginning and I can't wait to read the show more next part. show less
