What a great little book! Full of snippets about the way Christmas has been celebrated through the ages in Sussex. Some stories are quite moving - especially the snow drop in Lewes - some funny. Really good.

Accessible examination of the foliate head sculptures in the UK that draws on surprisingly few sources but it is still a useful introduction to this rather inchoate subject. The correlation between the Green Man and Gawain's green knight is particularly interesting.
