NCLA Review: The question at the crux of this book is “When and with whom should I have sex?” In our culture it’s easier to have sex with someone than to talk about it with them. The author’s goal is to explore serious questions about what sexual relations entail. Simply giving sober consideration to such questions as “Why do I want to have sex?” or “Who might be affected?” could save a world of regret. Duffy encourages Christians to see what the Bible says, but notes that show more Christians do not agree on how certain verses are to be interpreted. His reflection questions ask readers to examine their own beliefs and values; he does not attempt to manipulate their thinking. Duffy reflects the perspectives of many of today’s young adults. His challenge is to approach this aspect of life with forethought and self-knowledge. It would be a great study for a teen or young adult group, and an asset to church libraries open to non-traditional views. Rating: 4 —DKW show less
