This book was one of 6 I picked up at the Newport Public Library's book sale last weekend. I've had good luck with Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar chasing away sore throats, indigestion, headaches, and malaise so thought it'd be an interesting read. It is, but being that it's written by the producer of the Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar which practically has a monopoly on natural vinegar with "mother", it comes across as highly self-promotional, so I'll probably try some of the recommendations, but show more may hold off on declaring the "Bragg Healthy Lifestyle" as a cure for aging. show less
The Miracle of Fasting: Proven Throughout History for Physical, Mental and Spiritual Rejuvenation by Patricia Bragg
The book is crammed full of words and quotes, but it is also quite repetitive. Some of the information isn't complete, pg 94 ...almost all meat is laden with herbicides, fungicides, pesticides and other chemicals that are sprayed on or poured into the feed which these animals consume."
This is true, but it's also true of our fruits and vegetables.
pg. 95 has outdated information about cholesterol.
The author sounds very confused about her religion as well and writing about God and mother show more nature is distracting as well as ridiculous.
I wouldn't recommend the book. show less

Better than the Miracle book, but just as cluttered and unappealing and outdated.
This book does have some good information, but you really have to weed through the other stuff to find it.

This is just one of ten Bragg Health books produced to promote sales of products by Heath Science, Bragg Health Crusades. As with the other books in the series, about twenty-five percent is testimonials about how good their products are. There are several uncredited charts and graphics with outdated information, (i.e. food pyramid, omega-3 fats chart, etc.). Some web links listed do not work. Although one has to be skeptical and not take anything written at face value, the book supports some show more common sense value such as watch what you eat, do not smoke, and get exercise daily. show less
