About the Author

Dwight R. Smith grew up in the mountains of Idaho, never planning to be a cyclist. His first bicycle, bought at age 39, was mostly for commuting and Sunday rides. A three-day, 200-miler at age 57 was his first long ride. Dwight was a dedicatee of the El Tour de Tucson for being a United States show more perimeter cyclist and for inspiring people of all ages to bicycle as a means to conquer life's challenges. Dr. Smith is professor emeritus at Colorado State University where he taught ecology and wildlife biology show less

Interesting book though not entirely what I expected. It is his journal of several months of living in the cabin but there is a lot of outside contact and many times he leaves to go into Buena Vista and other small towns in the valley. He was up there to track weahter, animals and plants in that climate. He did lots of video and photography and also much soul searching. It was a slow read but worth reading.
