I was perplexed at first when I read the title. What the heck is Sunnyside? Well, it's a great journey through a fun part of Toronto history and of course, I've fallen in love with Mike Filey's writing style. Anything that makes me forget that I'm reading nonfiction is awesome in my books. I have a full review here: http://www.examiner.com/publishing-in-toronto/toronto-book-review-i-remember-sun.... But if you're not up to reading a few more words, let me say this is an excellent history of show more Toronto that is well written and the pictures, again, I'll say are amazing. show less
When I first picked up this book I was kind of like "Eww, a boat?" and I was pleasantly surprised. The pictures Mike Filey used in this book are amazing. What a great look at one of Canada's major cities and a small part of its history. Just goes to show you should never judge a book by its cover...or genre. For some reason, Goodreads has decided I can't leave a rating. **sigh** 5 Stars. Okay? Good. Loved this book and I'm now a bit of a history buff. I didn't know history was actually...interesting. Imagine that.
I have a full review here: http://www.examiner.com/books-in-canada/spotlight-on-canadian-authors-review-of-... but if you don't want to go there, I'll say I recommend you pick up this book. Mike has a very distinct writing style that makes you feel as though you're sitting in his show more living room sipping coffee (or whatever beverage you like, we Canadians are hospitable) and listening to him tell you a story. I enjoyed all of his books very much. show less

This is an attractive, large format book. The front and back covers are one painting of a Toronto street scene (Queen St. at Bay St.) showing the New City Hall, Old City Hall, and three streetcars from different eras. The inside has the history of public transit by streetcars, including many pictures of older Toronto. Charming but of most interest to a real tram enthusiast.
