On Opposite Tacks is an elegant, well-written book. I found the mix of contrasting personalities and history absorbing right from the beginning, the glimpse of life in Gloucester during the first world war especially so. Altogether, it was both entertaining and involving. I greatly enjoyed it. Hats off to Chester Brigham.

Well written , about two men, very different, with differing outlooks on things. One seems to be a young artist, the other an aging fisherman. Has photos and is quite interesting.

Fantastic read! It was one of those books that I was sorry to see end. As a native to New England, I was thrilled to learn more about the area I call home and the role of the fishing industry to both New England and United States. This should be included in the libraries of those who enjoy American art, the golden age of sailing and fishing and World War I history. It even has something for those interested in John Butler Yeats and the Yeats family history. Well done and I look forward to show more reading more books by Mr. Brigham. show less
