This book does not give specific projects. It shows how simple embroidery stitches can be used on knits. I would have liked to have read more advice on how to keep the elastic quality of the knit when embroidering on it.
The real strength of the book is in the samples. For each stitch there are a wide selection of examples as to how it can be used. For some of the samples it is not clear what stitches were used.
The point, though, is not to copy her designs, but rather to encourage you to show more combine basic embroidery skills on knitting. I'm happy to have read the library's copy. Even quite familiar stitches give a different effect because of the different materials. show less

Swedish Sweaters: New Designs from Historical Examples (An International Craft Classic) by Britt-Marie Christoffersson
This book has two parts -- historical sweaters and contemporary designs.
The first part is 27 historical Swedish sweaters, most knitted in the mid 19th century. The beautiful colour photographs, in most cases have charts of the design elements included. An experienced knitter would be able to construct a pattern for most of these sweaters using the charts given.
The second part is 14 patterns for contemprary designs, based on the historical sweaters. The designs are very nice and most are show more knitted with sportweight or finer yarn. show less
