Such a delightful exploration of what it would be like to live in a large family, in the city, etc. Also what it would be like to be a feral kitten who grows up to be a semi-tame cat friend. Also oldest girl. Also shop the Resale store by wise & thrifty choice (as do I still). 3.5 stars for me now, but I think myself when young would have read this over and over again, so rounding up.
And Tink, with her single, and young & pretty & irresponsible mother apparently has another story? I will show more look for more by the author after getting so lucky with this impulse grab from my library. show less

Mickey Finds a Kitten tells of when Mickey found a kitten, and how Pluto felt abandoned, since Mickey was paying so much more attention to the kitten than to him.
Pluto doesn't understand why the kitten is praised for doing things that Pluto isn't allowed to do. He decides he'll try to act like the kitten, but he is just scolded for doing so. Finally, Mickey realises what is going on, and tells Pluto that he shouldn't act like a kitten, because he is the world's best dog. So Pluto decides show more he'll always be Pluto, the dog, and he won't try to act like something he's not.
This one is a story about being yourself, though it's got a little similarity to 'new baby' stories like Thumper's Little Sisters. It's not bad, though of course it's got only a very simple story. I think I would prefer this one to Thumper's Little Sisters even as a 'new baby' story–this aspect might be a little subtle for very young children, but that's what parents are for, isn't it?

Another oldie but goodie I read a long time ago as a kid about what happens when you introduce a new friend in the group. it worked out in the end, and this was way before social media and all that crap so I am sure things would have happened differently otherwise, lol.
I first heard about this book on Loganberry Books.com and found a copy at a local thrift store. I loved this book! I thought it was very original until around the end when Dilly had to be rescued from Dr. Keenwit and everyone broke thru a wall with a bulldozer. I'm surprised it hasn't been made into a movie, it would be a great kids' movie!
