Oh my. I can't really give this one to students, can I? It opens with such power that it feels like a punch in the stomach. Everyday life in Sarajevo under siege, the community of international reporters and how they cope with the challenges of their profession are interesting and well written, but all the romantic plots are painfully clichéd, flat, uninteresting. However, the opening scene hit very hard even when it appeared a second time, with more context. It was a very mixed experience.
Penny is the member of the Barston Symphony Orchestra. Her boyfriend Simon, too. One day her double bass is missing. And later, the manager of her orchestra dies...
This book is like a drama.I was surprised when I knew that penny's boyfriend might kill the manager. The ending was sad,but in a sense the one was happy for Penny. It's a little interesting.

At first,Barston Symphony Orchestra arrived in Barcelona. One of the member of the orchestra lost her double bass.At that time in London, the picture painted by Cezanne was stolen. Then, someone with her orchestra fell from his room and died.-What is a true?
I thought a charm of the book is human relations like a drama of suspense. And a character was individualized. So I feel attracted to the story.
Penny Wade, a Double Bass player of the Barston Symphony Orchestra lost her musical instrument at Barcelona airport. But actually it was not accident but a matter related to a murder and a incident that a part of the famous picture was stolen. Then, her boy friend, Simon was doubted whether he was a murderer or not...

What this story is interesting is that it has a lot of conservation. So I can understand well and at the same time, it seems more realistic. And this is written based on the show more victim's sight. And at last, a shoking result. Will lock you. show less
