An interesting look, first at a short history of the different waves of disease that occupied medical minds over the ages, ending with Cancer, that great and difficult topic. St Luke's is a hospital dedicated to the treatment of cancer. Starting mainly with radiotherapy, it has continued to be a centre of cancer research and dedicated to the treatment of both the disease and those who suffer from it.
Cancer is a terrible shadow that lurks at the edge of many families and it is people like the show more staff at St Luke's who make it easier for people to bear.
The author does take a few pokes at some beliefs surrounding Cancer and Cancer treatment. His wry sense of humour does penetrate and the text is quite readable. show less
