Liza Baker

I think "I Love You Because You're You" by Liza Baker is a wonderful book for children. This book is a great way to show how much a mother truly loves her child. The book does a wonderful job making sure the theme is all about how the mom loves her son no matter the circumstance or situation, and the book also does a good job with rhymes that allow the children who read the book to have fun and be engaged. The pictures also go well with the words, allowing the children to not only read or show more hear the words of the book, but to also be able to see a visual representation to what the words mean, possibly allowing the child to have a deeper connection and/or understanding to the message of the book. show less

Summary:

Snow White and the seven dwarfs is a classic story about a beautiful young lady who worked hard in a castle and was noticed by the handsome prince. However, the wicked queen becomes jealous of this beautiful young lady because her magic mirror tells her she is not the prettiest that Snow white is and she orders a huntsman to take her out to the forest and kill her. The huntsman doesn't have the heart to do it and lets her go in the forest. Snow white is taken in by seven dwarfs with show more very different personalities. She begins taking care of them and they become a family. When the queen finds out she is not dead she poisons Snow white with an apple and only the kiss of her true love the prince can awaken her and it does.

Personal reaction to this book:

Personally I really like this book. It definitely is a fun attention getting story. It has so many different parts to the book that it holds a child attention for the duration of the story. It also has some good learning aspects to it as well.

Extension ideas:
1. I could use this book to teach children about blended families and adoptions because snow white is taken in by 7 very different individuals and becomes a new loving family.
2. I could also use this book to teach children about being cautious because some people aren't always what they seem. For example the old lady that seemed sweet and harmless gave Snow white the apple that harmed her and in reality the sweet old lady was a wicked queen. show less

Summary:
I Love You Because You're You, is a sweet book that teaches about how a mother loves her child no matter how he/she acts. The book provides several examples about why the mom loves her child. For example, the mom tells her child that she loves him/her when they are angry and pout. The moral to the story is that a mother loves her children at their best and worst times.

Personal Reaction:
This book reminded me of my childhood. My mother always told me she would love me through thick show more and thin. I think this story is a sweet book that every parent should read to their child while they are growing up.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
I Love You Because You're You would be a wonderful book to use for small children. Many kids just starting school or daycare have a hard time being away from their mom. This book would be a reminder that their mom loves them and will provide children comfort knowing that their mom loves them. show less

This story was about a child and its mother and the mother told him everyday i love you because your you not because you do nice things or eat all your food not even because you do what i say i love you just because your you.
I really liked this story because it tells children it doesnt matter what you do or what you say thier parents will ove you no matter so even iof the child is acting up or not really listening thier parents will still love.
As a class the kids could tell why they love show more thier parents what is something thier parents do that make them happy and what is something they do to make thier parents happy. show less
