Lee Child has always been my favourite writer and Jack Reacher my favourite character. I got recommended The Newsmaker by a colleague and I have to say it was the best recommendation I have ever been given. The pace of the book is relentless and the characters are both extremely believable and likeable. There were a number of moments where I was almost sitting upright following the action and I found it hard to put down. The only slight downside was that there were a few minor grammatical show more errors in the book but that didn't take away from the story and I guess that's the peril of being independently published. This is part one of a seven part story, and for me, I think this guy is going to be huge, and I can say that I was there at the beginning!! A brilliant read, move over, Reacher and Bourne, there is a new guy in town! show less
I can't believe how much I enjoyed this tribute book! Not only was it a biography of a comics legend, but it also honored the man and his life along with his works. Great interviews, fantastic coverage, well written and very engaging! I closed the book with an even better understanding of what Gene went through as well as a deeper appreciation for his work and what it took to get it to the public. Any fan of the comics industry or the history of comics owes it to themselves to read this show more book. Any fan of Gene Colan should not hesitate to put a copy on their bookshelves. show less
