When the Stars Begin to Fall: Overcoming Racism and Renewing the Promise of America by Theodore R. Johnson
Johnson used both historical and personal incidents to illustrate the prevalence of systemic racism in the U.S. The book is an elegant plea for unity at a time when the country seems torn apart. Johnson makes an appeal for a return to civility and a patriotism that allows and even welcomes dissent. His ideas for creating national unity are solid although the book dragged on a little too long before he got to them. This volume is full of good ideas and hope at a time when Johnson's idealism show more seems an impossible dream. I think the volume could have used a little editing and cut the length some and still made the same points. show less
