Story of Pierre and how he grew up in the woods of nw Canada. His parents had gone out one day to hunt and trap and never came back.
The peddler visits and sets him up what he needs to survive. He is once brought to the village so the gun can be fixed. He is able to take care of himself, hunting, fishing, etc.
He sells food to the visitors of the cape that come for the summer. He meets Maureen who's been crying and the adults had adopted her.
She teaches him letters and he show more teaches her all about animals and their lifestyles. So much information!
