This book includes instructions on how to make a hand-made loom, how to use an Ashford Knitter's Loom, how to pin weave, how to use a weavette, and how to free-form weave on found objects. The most valuable part for me is that the instructions for the weavette include a good enough picture to make one of your own. (Unfortunately the company that was making them had some kind of problem and stopped about 5 months after I discovered they existed and 6 months before I decided to buy one). show more Although I figured out much about free-form weaving on my own, I found the pictures inspirational. I'm sure I'll get around to the other things eventually. Certainly the instructions for making your own loom are simple and cheap. show less
What really bugged me about this book was some of the photos were really blurry - it would have been a lot better, imo, if they had all been in focus. Otherwise, it had a nice variety of projects. The last thing that bothered me about it was it seemed to be promoting a specific loom, and that kinda got on my nerves a little too.
Eh. Mostly pretty pictures of the artist's work and instructions on collage techniques. I have better books on collage techniques and the amount of information on the process of altering books was not worth the price of admission. I recommend getting from a library, not owning.
Comprehensive treatment from history and materials to complex (and simple) examples.
