I’m not quite even sure what happens in this beautiful, beautiful picture book, but who cares? Caroline Magerl’s dreamy illustrations would make this a five-star book with no words at all.

This is a fantasy book. It follows the life of Rose, who wished for a friend, but the friend never came. Rose was sad and nothing could cheer her up, so her whole family searched for her "wish thing" until Rose found it in the sea and rescued it. Rose had her friend, and they were able to play and have fun and meet both new and old friends. This is an okay fantasy book. It wasn't quite clear enough and I had trouble following the storyline. At times, I wasn't really following the author and show more what she was trying to get accross due to her vague language. I don't know if I would use this in my class because I don't feel that my students would follow the book very well either. The illustrations look like water color and pencil drawings. show less
Rose makes a wish and her wish must find a way to her. Through obstacle after obstacle they find each other and Rose gets to see some old friends. This book is a really interesting read and the pictures are wonderful.
