Life Cycle of A Pumpkin by Ron Fridell and Patricia Walsh is a book about how pumpkins grow. It also talks about the different types of pumpkins and that they are a fruit. It starts at the beginning with the seed, grows into a flower, then the pumpkin starts to grow, and when big enough is picked by the farmer. It can go to a store to be made into Jack-o-lantern, carved for Halloween, made into pies, or put into a fair to win a prize.

I like this book for the simple language it uses. I also show more like this book because it is a sequence book that starts at the beginning and shows the steps until the end. The pictures are very bright and go well with the words.

I would use this book at Halloween to teach children how the pumpkins they get at the store are grown. I could also use this book for a lesson on farms and growing fruits and vegetables.

A very interesting look at the 'pioneers of forensic science'. But it's hardly in-depth, so now I have lots more researching to do!
Non-fiction book--I like this because it gives children and adults in the US a different perspective of the world education systems--or lack of such. There are organizations help to get education to others around the world.
This is great for my PeaceJam unit and global awareness, diversity and world culture unit with VISION HCP.
