This is a book typical of what could be found in Dimestore newstands in the late fifties. It is a coming of age story about a woman who is portrayed as sexy, trampy, and bitchy and takes her from her college days through adulthood, focusing on her relationships and often indiscreet liaisons.
It is told, for the most part, through Nikki's point of view. It is of much the same ilk as some of Lawrence Block or Donald Westlake's early novels published under various pseudonyms such as the Sheldon show more Lord stuff. It gives the reader a taste of what was widely read back then, but it's not too compelling or deep. show less
A fast paced noir novel about a recently released parolee with a disappeared wife and a corpse in his apartment. Lots of 50's expressions and a quick read.
