Chapkis does a nice job with the research part of this book, though she homegrows a credibility problem by adding the too much information anecdote appendix "the researcher finally gets some" or whatever at the end. Sometimes you need to create boundaries with audience in order to distinguish between real scholarship and voyeuristic expose, my dear.
Interesting, (and mostly work safe, in spite of the fairly lurid front cover). An investigation of the women involved in live sex acts, what they think, etc. Not groundbreaking (well, I didn't think so) but mostly interesting all the same.
Definitely of its time. What is most depressing is how, 30 years on, so many of the issues Chapkis raises still exist.
