When I first picked up this book with the cutsey cover picture I thought it would be for younger children. However the reading level is more like junior high. Divided into four groups it gives us insight into a dozen women famous during the Civil War. Within each biography there are sidelines for related information, either on other similar women or the writings of the woman or related issues. There were helpful in filling out the topic. My only complaint is that there were no footnotes to show more tell where the information was from even though there was a list for further reading. show less
This is a book that contains 124 pages, but within these pages, there is so much knowledge. The book helps to tell about the women who played roles in the civil war. But it also contains so much more like the different things women did during the civil war, different diseases from the time, and things the government put into place during the period. Thru this chapter book, you can use it as a class read-aloud to help show some of the history women had in the civil war.
i enjoyed this throw back to the colonial time about woman who made a difference
