Summary: May's dad is busy so her older brother helps take care of her. They want to go outside and play but it is raining, so they stay inside until their dad is not busy anymore. When their dad is done, they go outside and play in the rain, but once it is time to come inside May is very unhappy. Her brother got the idea of letting her play in the shower until it was time to take a nap. They were all so tired after May took her shower that they all took a nap.
Personal Reaction: I think it show more is great that the older brother helped take care of May. It shows responsibility. When I was younger, I had to help take care of my younger siblings as well. It is challenging and sometimes irritating, but it teaches you more than you think.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1). So many students could be chosen each week for a responsibility done in the classroom and be rewarded for doing so.
2). My students could color their own raincoats.
3). I think it would also be a good idea if the students could draw their idea of playing in the rain. show less

My favorite part of these easy reader books is the list of vocabulary in the back of these books. After we read the books I would hold the book and ask what does this mean, and so forth and if she couldn't figure it out, we would find it in the book, read that sentence and try to figure it out with the context.
A collection of simple riddles about fish such as "Why are fish so smart? They are always in schools."
