The little red hen begins with a rhythmic tone of the little red hen asking the cat and the mouse to do things and having to do them herself, like setting the fire, cooking breakfast, and then eating the breakfast. When the fox comes, he captures the little red hen in a white sack, but she remained ready and as as soon as she had an opportunity, she cut a hole in the bag, placed a rock in the bag and sewed it back up. When the fox gets home to his mother and he drops the contents of the bag show more (a large stone) into the big glass pot in the fire place, it shatters the pot and burns his mother. So she throws a shoe at him and knocks him off the roof. the book ends with the little red hen saying, "And...that's that." The story has a constant flow and rhythm that read very easily and the pictures add to the entertainment value of the story, like when the fox gets hit with his mother's shoe. show less
