One word: adorable!
The blue color palette is soothing and perfect for bedtime reading.
The humorous rhyming text is easy to follow along and helps to build up the anticipation towards Christmas.
Counting down from 5 to 1 helps with number recognition and count skills.
The main character and his sister are so cute! There are plenty of visual jokes (for the parental Jimmy Fallon fans - Gary!) and things to pour over in the lovely illustrations.
This title reminds me one one of my favorite, almost show more wordless, picture books, 10 Minutes till Bedtime by Peggy Rathmann, but with not as much hidden visual jokes and with lots more text. But 5 More Sleeps 'til Christmas by Jimmy Fallon is still full of lots of repeated reading fun for the holiday season. show less

5 More Sleeps ‘til Christmas is a simple, cheerful story that captures the excitement kids feel as Christmas gets closer. The main theme is anticipation—how waiting for something special can feel both fun and impossible. The child in the story doesn’t change in a deep way, but the countdown shows how kids learn patience day by day, even when they’re bursting with energy.
The writing uses rhythm and repetition to sound almost like a song, which helps build the feeling of counting down. show more Each “sleep” acts like a small milestone, symbolizing how time feels slower when you’re excited.
The illustrations are a big part of the book’s charm. The bright colors, glowing lights, and lively scenes help readers feel the magic of the holiday season. The pictures also show the child’s emotions—jumping, dreaming, and imagining—which makes the excitement feel real. Overall, the artwork and simple writing work together to create a warm, festive mood. show less

We picked up this book for the first time this year. We eagerly anticipated reading this on the 20th of Dec.....it sat on a pile of to be read books as we awaited the day we had 5 more sleeps 'til Christmas to read this.....it didn't disappoint!
A very cute rhyming story that reminds us all of the excitement of marking the days until Santa comes as a child.
My only gripe...as others as have pointed out....the illustrators name was left off the cover in favor of a garishly large JIMMY FALLON. show more The illustrations are key to bringing picture books to life.....especially in books like this. Shame on all involved with the publication of this book! If my children didn't love it so much, I'd pass on it due to this! show less

{My thoughts} – I was browsing the children’s book section at TJ Max and ran across this cute countdown book for Thanksgiving. Since Thanksgiving is next week, I thought why not and got it for the girls. I haven’t read it to them yet, but have pages through and read the book myself, twice now.
This is a neat book similar to the 5 little monkey’s jumping on the bed series of books. I really enjoy silly books like this that help children to effectively learn, without them realizing they show more are in fact learning something. It has beautiful illustrations that blend nicely with the words on the pages of the book. I love that it is a board book and that my little one’s will be able to turn the pages on their own and flip through the book during quiet time here at home.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a nice little holiday book to share with the little loved one. I think it has the potential of becoming one of those loved books that get read over and over again! show less
