Using clever pictures of every day items, Scott Gifford explains fractions, decimals, and percents. I loved the emphasis on the fact that all three refer to the same thing. Fractions, decimals, and percents are essentially math synonyms and this book does a great job of reinforcing that on each two page spread.
This awesome book by Scott Gifford with photos by Shmuel Thaler explains how fractions are related to percentages and decimals. Cute pictures make it even clearer. I absolutely loved it because I teach math and really enjoy such content. Never really though of 1/12 as 8%. I ended upi kin of memorizing all of the examples in the book haha. Will use in class.
This book breaks down decimals, percent's, and fractions comparing it to language, they all mean the same thing in a different way. The book gives you a small introduction before taking you into the journey of using these things. Decimals, percent's, and fractions are all different but can we connected while describing parts of things/objects. The book uses everyday scenarios to explain these techniques and uses bright colors to keep the readers attention. I like how the book breaks down the show more objects into percentage, fraction, and decimal all on the same page so you can see how they are all connected. Great book to show readers how math is such a big part in our every lives. show less

This book tries to connect fractions to decimals and percents, but it shows no mathematical calculations showing how one is derived from the other. If I would use this book I would have to fill in many of the unexplained references to decimals and percents. Many pictures do not illustrate the fraction properly. For example, if one did not know a pizza had 8 slices the reader could not connect 1/8 to the picture. The writer is an elementary school teacher who is described as being flummoxed show more by fractions, decimals and percents. This book make me think he is still flummoxed. show less
