I was drawn into a gripping tale of suspense and intrigue set in a small, close-knit community. When Sarah Jennings discovers her neighbor's dark secret, she finds herself embroiled in a web of lies and deception that threatens to unravel everything she holds dear.

Eckhart excels at creating tension and suspense, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as the story unfolds. From the mysterious disappearance of Sarah's neighbor to the shocking revelations that follow, the plot is filled show more with twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the very end.

One of the book's strengths lies in its portrayal of complex characters grappling with moral dilemmas and conflicting loyalties. Sarah is a compelling protagonist, torn between her desire to do what's right and her fear of the consequences. Similarly, the supporting cast members are well-developed and add depth to the narrative, each with their own secrets and motivations.

Moreover, "The Neighbor" explores themes of trust, betrayal, and the consequences of keeping secrets. As Sarah delves deeper into the mystery surrounding her neighbor, she must confront uncomfortable truths about the people she thought she knew and the community she calls home.

While "The Neighbor" is an engaging read, some readers may find that certain plot twists feel contrived or predictable. Additionally, the pacing is uneven at times, with moments of intense action followed by slower, more introspective scenes.

With its compelling characters, twisty plot, and atmospheric setting, Lorhainne Eckhart has crafted a novel that will keep readers guessing until the very end.

The first book in the series was well written and the characters are complex and engaging. However, I would have preferred to have Brad's perspective revealed to the reader sooner than halfway through the book. I connect better when the point of view is more intertwined. Having said that, the story makes the reader want to keep reading in order to find out how the tangled web of lies that are spun eventually get resolved. I do anticipate reading the remainder of the series because I am show more interested to see what happens along the way. I received this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. show less

I love the Friessens and always enjoy visiting with them but...the last few books seem to be short and wrapped up very quickly. I'm not sure why this is but it's a little disappointing. With that said, I still enjoyed this quick visit with Steven & Katy. They are out on their own away from family and expecting a baby. They have to grow up quickly and they get a good dose of reality when Steven goes missing. Can't wait to see what comes next for them.
