Short biography
Studied theology at Neuchatel, Bonn and Berlin. In 1859 he was appointed professor of theology at Neuchatel. In 1873 he became one of the founders of the free Evangelical Church of Neuchatel, and professor in its theological faculty. A conservative scholar, he was the author of some noteworthy French commentaries.
