Useful guide to the Ionian dialect, notes on the Greek, and extensive glossary. unfortunately Barbour has elected to take the traditional chapter & line numbers out, which makes it impossible to correlate this to the OCT or to a translation without a considerable amount of work. Worse, she frequently cuts lines or chunks right out of the middle of passages she's excerpting, without any warning. Naturally (since this was done in around 1910, as a school text) what she's cut out is often the show more gruesome or sexy bits.
So this is a decent but very frustrating school text, which you have to supplement with the real thing. show less
