The children introduce themselves and their "mum" and begin to say how their mum was little once too and they love to hear stories of her as a child in the olden days. It brings the reader way back to the 70's. This book can show children that the world does not stay the same and that lifestyles, clothes, and activities change over time. Although the pictures are a bit overwhelming, it gives the young reader of what things such as TV's, shoes, clothes, hair, etc looked like back in the olden show more days. show less
A colourful, strongly illustrated picture book. Neil is feared by others because of his size. He has no friends. A stranger comes into their lives that scares the others even more. Neil sees this arrival as an opportunity. Funny pictures and lively text make this book very popular with 5 and 6 year olds.
The first thing I noticed when reading this book was the use of the word "Mum" for "Mom". This is something that is usually said in parts of the UK and Austrialia. Turns out the author was Austrailian. It is definitly an interesting story of a mother who is all grown up with kids, and one of her daughters is telling us what her mom used to be like when she was a kid. The colors and illustrations are very groovy and the story is a little bit of a blast from the past mixed with a history show more lesson. Very good book, but might be in the 3rd grade reading level area. show less
This is a fun picture book of life in the sixties. In the book, children explain how their mother different years ago. They take a journey through their mom’s past. The illustrations are colorful and the patterns were common in the sixties. I enjoyed this book.
