This is a cute book about Christmas. I would recommed this book as a read aloud for young children. I think children would really enjoy this book because many kids love the holidays!
I enjoy reading poems and I loved this book. I think this the perfect book to read to children during the holidays.
This is a great book of poems for young children. The book cover is what caught my attention. I enjoyed this book!!
The illustrations and the text remind young readers to celebrate the wonders that are often taken for granted. This is a wonderful book to celebrate the sprouting of seeds and flowers that are starting to bloom as spring comes closer. It's a perfect little board book that will work well for kids just looking at the pictures, or listening to adults read.
This is a poetry book that is not rhymes but concrete poetry. The poetry are written into shapes and objects they are describing. The pictures do a great job depicting what is being talked about. This is book is about cat and dogs day in the park but it is written in poetry that is enjoyable to children to read.
This is a great book for anyone wishing to explore why poetry is so important in children's lives. I enjoyed reading the poetry in this book!
Days to Celebrate: A Full Year of Poetry, People, Holidays, History, Fascinating Facts, and More by Lee Bennett Hopkins
This is a great resource for teachers! The poems go along with holidays and special days within the year and are written by months. It has a nice range of poems to celebrate all sorts of holidays throughout the year.
This is a great educational book. The stories are from a diverse range of cultures, and share the common theme of fabric. I loved all the stories in the book. I would recommed this book for young fairytale lovers.
I loved this book. It was a great story and true to life. Three friends are living together happily until a stranger introduces them each to something they didn't have before or hadn't seen before which causes arguments. In the end the friends learn to compromise and work together. It reminds me that the grass isn't always greener on the other side but at the same time change can be good when adapted for your needs.
The story is a touching story to help a child understand that a grandparent may die but will never leave your heart. The illustrations are beautiful. I would recommend this book to anybody with children with an elderly grandparent. I am one of those elderly grandparents and it brought tears to my eyes.
I am giving this to my youngest granddaughter.
I am giving this to my youngest granddaughter.
The colors and shading in this book worked very well to portray the mood of the story. The story starts off after winter time, when everything around is brown. The illustrator did such a good job of using different shades of brown to portray a dull, dreary feeling. At the end of the novel, everything is green and blossomed and colors are everywhere. This would be a great book for children that love to do gardening.
I did not enjoy this story and would not recommend this book for kids. The original story line is great but in the end the author talks about religion. This kind of confused me so I could only imagine what children would get from this story. However, the illustrations were beautiul!
This book is about a little girl named Rose that dreams of beautiful gardens. She shares her dreams with an old man in a wheelchair who is feeding pigeons at the city park. My favorite thing about this book were the colorful illustrations. It is a simply written book that would be perfect for preschoolers.
This is a beautiful book that tells the story of how seeds are spread in the wild. I would recommend it for families who enjoy nature and/or gardening and families who are studying the seed cycle. Picture book that shows all the various ways the seeds travel through beautiful illustrations. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This was a cute book with colorful illustrations. I love how this story starts before the title page and the action follows through the house outside to the washing line. When the ball bounces, many things happen. It is nice to read stories with baby and not just fuzzy animal as main character.
This is a cute book about a little girl trying to like sports. I think this is a good book to read aloud. I did not enjoy it but I think children that like sports and don't know how to play would like this book.
This story was a great way to inform children about the hardships of the great depression and for children who would have trouble recognizing the time and the place for this book. It was a wonderful story and I really took pleasure in it!
This worldless book explores what happens when three seals find a left behind beach ball. There are three different scenarios, the seals explore themes in sharing and making friends. A good selection for young readers learning to be friends and good citizens. I thought the book was cute!
I did not like this book very much. I feel like some of the rhymes were altered from the versions I'd heard before. I would have rathered the original version of this story.
This is one of the best Mother Goose book. The pictures are so colorful and cute. I read this to my nieces and they absolutely loved it. When we got to "I see the moon" she would start to tear up and whimper because she knew it was time for bed. I am so glad they rereleased it so other children can enjoy. I would recommed this book for young children.
This is a cute story with fun illustrations and hilarious onomatopoeia. It is a sweet children's book that most children will be able to relate with because almost every child has been through the case were the parent will not allow the child to have the certain pet. This book touches on that subject and students need to see how the little boy deals with that type of disappointment with respect for his elders.
This picture book that is about a Postman delivering letters to recognisable fairytale characters. Each character of the story receives a letter. I enjoyed this book and realized how great it was for children. The book catches my attention throughout with its the humour, rhyming of the words, short sentences, beautiful illustrations and the interactive aspect. The use of the fairytale characters is fantastic as they’re familiar to children and entertaining.
This novel had a very interesting story line. The thought that went into the text and type of writing was really interesting to me. I liked the story line of the 8th graders preparing themselves within their writing workshop. Clever look at writing. Great for middle school writers.
This book includes multiple fairytales. I love how at the end of the book there is a newspaper that tells about all the news of the events that occurred in the book. Children will really enjoy this because they will know the stories of the different tales within the book and will enjoy seeing how they are all intertwined. I think this is a cute book for young children to read. I enjoyed it!
This book has four stories in one. The illustrations are different in each episode and help move story along further. this book is also very unique in that the font changes. The pages of the story are all separated into four sections and each section represents it's own story. I was expecting each of the four stories to have a clear ending but it did not work out that way. Agreeing with multiple other posts and reviews I read about Black and White, the book is more of an experience than an actual story.
The illustrations are an important part of the story. They come together very well with the text. The main characters of this book include the rabbits, the children, the postman, the farmer, the policeman and his wife. It is written from narrative point of view. The setting is a common neighborhood. The story is told by the narrator. At the beginning, the temperature was getting colder and colder. You can tell it from people's reaction. I thought the story was really cute and I would recommend it as a read aloud for young children.
I enjoyed the interesting colorful pictures in this books. The illustrator did a good job of using the pictures to tell the story. It was written about a fox that gets his tail chopped off for stealing milk and then has to find people to help him, all wanting something else in return. I would suggested this book for a read aloud for young children.
The illustrations in this book catch my attention. I wasn't fasinated with the story line. I think children would like reading this book; however, I did not enjoy it!
This repetitive, rhyming story is very sweet. The king and queen are gracious hosts and the boy uses his best manners. The silly pictures do betray the book's 1960's roots. But the story is so sweet and timeless that parents will want to read it repeatedly to their children.
Illustrations used by Ransom really tell the story. The wolf in grandma's bed is very comical. The text is a little advanced to read alone, it may be best for the teacher to read aloud to younger students. Many may have already heard the story of little red riding hood, but not all books have the same ending. This book would appeal to young readers.
