In 1974, the UK was in the grip of a miner's strike. Coal supplies to power stations were getting low, and the nation was on the verge of a formal State of Emergency. The Government decreed that the country should go onto a three-day week to conserve energy supplies. In the midst of this, the modelling magazine "Scale Models" made their March issue a "Power crisis issue", with no colour on the inside pages and a monochrome with spot colour cover.
