Short biography
The Practical Study Group was formed in 1973 to promote and teach the craft of embroidery to as wide a range of students as possible. Members of the group are all full-time embroiderers who accept commissions, exhibit together and individually, and contribute articles, critiques and books to the growing body of practical knowledge on the subject. All members reularly submit work to be assessed by Constance Howard and attend courses themselves to keep up with new developments. The teaching work of the group is conducted on a part-time freelance basis at day schools, short residential courses and Institutes all over the country.
