It's comforting to find a succinct statement of vision that unites such a large denomination, while leaving plenty of room for thoughtful dialogue and evolution. I am, however, disturbed by the idealistic assertions of positive rights sans any rational path for achieving them peacefully.
This was not my hymnal growing up, as I was a Baptist, but it was in use by many of my friends in the late sixties. Many of them still used the 1939 edition (see that record).

Many of the hymns in both books were also in my Baptist hymnals, and remain favorites of many denominations.

I noted these hymns as being interesting to me because I was not familiar with them, or knew the tune with a different text & vice versa:
Quarterly Conference Records. A folio containing a photo-print of the Minutes of the Meetings of the Williamstown Charge Station, The Methodist Episcopal Church (also known as Board Meetings).

23 June 1872 through 20 December 1885 (next scheduled meeting listed for 18 May 1886).

Original volume was 10" x 8".

Permission granted to reproduce volume granted by the United Methodist Church Administrative Board to Hazel J. McNeal Menchinsky, Gratz Historical Society, 27 January 1993.
This was my personal hymnal from 1990 to retirement from the United Methodist Church in 2005. Used at the Brainard UMC (1975-1996); Schenevus UMC/Worcester UMC (1996-2001); North Hoosick UMC (2001-2003); and Eagle Bridge UMC/South Cambridge UMC churches (2003-2005) where I was the Pastor and United Methodist ordained minister. I was also the Pastor of the Stuyvesant UMC from 1972-1975.
