This book shows the process of getting dressed to go out and play in the rain through simple pictures and one-word descriptions of each picture. The androgynous character is shown putting on his/her clothes, going outside and playing with worms and sailboats ("sail") and coming back in to enjoy soup and a nap. I like this book for its simplicity, it is colorful without being garish and the one-word per page format makes it easy for little kids to sound out workds and see what they mean in show more one glance. It also has a unique perspective, for example, a picture of the child holding a pot of worms under the umbrella is accompanied by the word "save". A good, quick, rainy-day book. show less

Author Kit Allen has a great thing going with this series of basic vocabulary books built around seasons. This one, Sweater, illustrates the words of fall in a very charming way!

Hey, really cute children's book of summer words! Makes me a little sorry that summer's on it's way out here!

Another cute book by Kit Allen, this one about winter words. My favorite in this one is of the little boy demonstrating "sip" with a big red mug in front of the fireplace.
