Boris Beizer is an ancient master of testing software from his time working on the mountaintop of Mainframes down into the valley of the micro-computer.

If you get a chance to own one of the editions of this book, strive to own the other edition as well. He covers different material and does a good job of covering the material in both books.

Some of his methods are a bit mathematical, and generally assume you know what the process of creating software is about, but he has a lot more to say show more about the process than many popular software testing books.

Note: this is the 1990 hardcover second (2nd) edition. There is also a softcover published in 2008.

A little dated but it's a consensus classic in the field so should be considered a MUST READ by software testers
This is the first edition of this masterwork by Boris Beizer.
It begins with the poem "The Tester's Soliloquy"
